PennDOT Road Closure
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that base repair will close Elwyn Road in Middletown Township and Delchester Road in Edgmont Township, Delaware County. Weather permitting, drivers are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Friday, August 14, through Tuesday, August 18, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Elwyn Road will be closed and detoured weekdays between Route 352 (Middletown Road) and Baltimore Pike. During the closure, drivers will be directed to use Route 352 (Middletown Road) and Baltimore Pike.
- Monday, August 17, through Friday, August 21, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Delchester Road will be closed and detoured between Gradyville Road and Route 3 (West Chester Pike). During the closure, drivers will be directed to use Gradyville Road, Providence Road, and Route 3 (West Chester Pike).
Local access will be maintained at all times. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work areas or along the detour routes because backups and delays may occur.
Township Statement on Outrigger Appeal
Outrigger Industrial Acquisition, LLC has withdrawn its appeal challenging a land development application denial by the Middletown Township Council, filing a praecipe to discontinue the case in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas on August 10, 2026. See the full statement here.
Pump Station Construction Update
Beginning the week of May 18, preliminary work for the pump station project will begin. Actual construction of the pump station is tentatively scheduled to start in mid-June and continue through completion, which is anticipated by September 30, 2026. Construction hours will be Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Hours may be extended as needed depending on construction progress and weather conditions. Lenni Park Improvements - Phase 1
Construction on Phase 1 of the Lenni Park Improvement Project is scheduled to begin during the week of August 17, 2026 The overall project will be completed in two phases. Additional information regarding the project and construction activities will be provided as work progresses. Please be aware of construction activity in and around the park during this time. PECO Construction
PECO will begin construction on Pembroke Road from Mt. Averno Road to S. New Middletown Road during the week of August 17, 2026. Work will take place Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and may include work on the roadway, sidewalks, and potentially on private property.
During construction:
• Parking lanes will be needed from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. until the new gas main is installed.
• PECO will work to minimize the impacts to local traffic as much as possible.
• Motorists and residents are asked to use caution when traveling through the work area.
