CRC and EAC Partner to Plant 75 Trees

On Saturday, November 1, volunteers from CRC Watersheds Association and Middletown Township’s Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) came together to plant 75 native trees along Rocky Run Creek — a meaningful step toward watershed health and climate resilience.

Why it matters:

Planting trees near a stream improves water quality by filtering pollutants and sediment, stabilizing streambanks to prevent erosion, and cooling the water with shade. Trees also help manage flooding, provide habitat for wildlife, and store carbon keeping it out of the atmosphere and contributing to long-term ecological balance.

Thanks to:

  • CRC Watersheds Association for providing trees and organizing the planting.
  • Middletown Township Public Works for transporting the trees to the site.
  • Middletown EAC and the Parks and Recreation Department for initiating the project and selecting the site.
  • And most especially, the 20 + community volunteers who came out to plant trees! We couldn't do it with out you!

We look forward to more opportunities to work with the CRC Watersheds Association and other organizations to care for our open space.
