Billing
In February 2001, the Township incorporated the annual sewer rental and recycling charge with the property tax bill (Ordinance #603, dated June 26, 2001). The sewer rental is for the calendar year January 1st through December 31st and bills are issued in February. Payment is due on or before May 31st.
Commercial Customers are billed quarterly on the 15th of February, May, August, and November. A 10% penalty charge is added to the net amount due if payment is not received in the Sewer Authority office within thirty days after billing date. Postmarks by the United States Postal Service on, or prior to, the final day on which the payment is to be received is evidence of timely payment. Presentation of a receipt indicating that the payment was mailed by Registered or Certified Mail on or before the due date shall also be evidence of timely payment.
In the year 2015 it is anticipated that the Township’s wastewater flows will be transferred from the current sewage treatment plant in Aston Township to the County’s plant in Chester, PA. Service agreements were signed by with the Delaware County Regional Water Quality Control Authority (DELCORA) in March 2010. The cost of sewage treatment and conveyance for Middletown will increase over the next several years to approximately $665 per year per dwelling unit. This is the estimated amount needed to fund Middletown’s portion of the infrastructure to send flows to DELCORA and to continue to maintain the sewage collection system within our township.
