Building Rules and Regulations

1.  No work may be performed without first obtaining a Building Permit.

2.  The Building Permit must be displayed in a conspicuous place where it can readily be seen.

3.  The Building Inspector must be called 24 hours in advance for scheduling inspections.

4.  The contractor, owner or person doing the work must call for inspection when the work is started and while the work is in progress.  Some items that require mandatory inspections are footings, foundation walls, framing, roof, plumbing, on site septic systems, etc.  When in doubt about inspections, please call the Middletown Township office at 610-565-2700.

5.  Upon completion of the work and prior to use or occupancy, a Final Occupancy Inspection must be performed.  The contractor, owner or person doing the work must submit the application for Certificate of Occupancy, a final electrical inspection certificate by a PECO approved underwriter, and any other applicable Certificate by County of State.  The Building Inspector may deem necessary the submission of “As-Built” plans.  When all of the above are completed, a Certificate of Occupancy will be issued.
