Middletown Township Department of Public Safety

The Department of Public Safety is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents, businesses, and visitors in the Township. Through our dedicated Fire, Emergency Management, and Code Enforcement services, we strive to maintain a secure and resilient community.

Our mission is to protect lives, reduce hazards, and prepare for any emergency, fostering a safe environment where people can thrive.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Police Services: The Pennsylvania State Police provides police services, patrol operations, investigations, and enforcement of local and state laws to maintain public order. Our department works closely with the State Police and residents to prevent crime, enhance community engagement, and ensure public safety.

  • Fire & Emergency Medical Services (EMS): Respond to fire emergencies, rescue situations, and provide medical services. We also conduct fire prevention education, fire safety inspections, origin and cause determination after a fire, and ensure the township is equipped to handle various emergencies.

  • Emergency Management: Plan, prepare, and respond to natural disasters, severe weather events, and emergencies affecting the community. We collaborate with neighboring municipalities and county agencies to ensure a coordinated response.

  • Code Enforcement: Working alongside the building and planning department to monitor and enforce compliance with township building and fire codes, zoning laws, and property maintenance standards. The department also oversees all fire permits, fire inspections, and assists in plan reviews for construction projects. Our goal is to ensure that homes and businesses maintain safety standards and contribute to the township’s quality of life.

  • Public Education & Safety Programs: Educate the community on fire safety, disaster preparedness, and crime prevention. We also offer training for businesses and residents on emergency response techniques.

  • Homeland Security & Community Resilience: Support local, state, and federal initiatives to protect against potential security threats and ensure that our township is prepared for any incident, large or small.

At the Department of Public Safety, we are committed to delivering exceptional service to our community with professionalism, transparency, and a focus on building trust. Together, we can keep Middletown a safe, welcoming place for everyone.
